iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba 694 by iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that performs well on both carpets with a low pile or bare floor. It has good suction and cleans most debris, however it isn't able to handle larger debris like sand or rice. It does a good job cleaning pet hair, but it is not as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.

The Roomba is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' initiates an entire cleaning cycle and 'Dock' places it back into its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' initiates the targeted cleaning. You can control it via a smartphone application that allows you schedule cycles, stop/start them, and alter settings. You can also pair the device with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it by voice commands.

This vacuum is a little slower than others, but it's still able to reach most corners and crevices. It comes with a large dust bin, which is great for reducing the frequency with the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allows you to make the robot avoid certain areas, or even stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from getting stuck.

It's not the best rated robot vacuum and mop in its price range however it's better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694, with better cleaning efficiency on carpets with low and no pile. It also has a more durable battery and a more efficient route. It is also more durable, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is priced less over its lifetime, and charges faster than 694.

It's also worth considering other, more premium models within the iRobot line, such as the 981 or the v7. The v7 and 981 are more expensive, but offer significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment, charge faster, move more easily, and are easier to pair with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This budget self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on carpets with low piles and hard floors. Its combinator brush gets to corners and edges and automatically increases suction as soon as it spots carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt from mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a tiny footprint and also a self-emptying function. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll have to manually reset it in order to do this, which can be somewhat of a hassle.

The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, but it isn't equipped with no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing system of the app allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient however it can be stuck on rug tassels.

During our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to eliminate a large amount of debris on floors that were not bare, and a fair amount of medium-pile rug. It was a little less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on bare flooring, but it recovered speed and was more efficient than the other robots we have evaluated.

The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge and is capable of getting over obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky debris. The iRobot on the other hand feels more sturdy, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs fewer recurring costs, can create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to even resume the cleaning process from where it left off if it runs out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can be controlled by voice, which is a huge plus for many users.

Eufy 11S

The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't one of the most advanced models, but it does offer powerful cleaning power at a low cost. This vacuum was made for those who are budget conscious and do not require a complicated mapping system, or even an application to control it. The robot can run for more than an hour and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.

The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that looks like brushed aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic contrast to Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.

The eufy11S did well in our tests to remove larger particles and fine dust from hard flooring. However, it was unable to give medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. It is also prone to hit furniture and people that are in its path, but it's able to detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud ring when it encounters an obstacle. You can then manually guide the device around it and get it to work again.

Another excellent feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match the type of floor and the level of mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you want it to go.

If you don't have much furniture in the space where you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.

You can also select Edge Cleaning that limits the amount of time in each area to 20 minutes for optimal battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern cleaning edges and corners.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that is a winner on carpet. Its performance is also great on floors with no floor. It can remove fine debris like rice easily, and it doesn't lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body captures allergens to keep your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.

It's not quite as powerful as more expensive models, but it's great for deep cleaning and taking on staining. It has two front cameras that deliver live feeds to your smartphone.
