It is recommended to also purchase enough glazier's clips, or points to place them every 6 inches around the window pane.

Depending on the window's warranty the window may be covered by the manufacturer, installer in which case you must contact them to file a claim. After the new glass has been installed it is essential to cover it with a thin layer of glaziers compound. Once the compound is dry it is possible to paint the frame to match.

If you have a crack that is more than an inch, scoring the crack with a razor blade just beyond the crack can help to prevent it from spreading any further. This method isn't infallible, but it will slow the growth of the crack to a manageable size until you can take permanent measures.

Repair
